The Eclipse Partners' Team includes enterprise, manufacturing and office lean expertise gained while working at DENSO a $40 billion automotive parts supplier. Toyota's ownership in DENSO is over 24% and DENSO is Toyota's primary supplier. The Toyota processes were introduced into DENSO as they were being developed and proven at Toyota. DENSO is also a major shareholder of Toyota's stock.
Everyone knows that big
cross-organizational change is difficult. However, not all organizational transformation is the same. This is particularly true for businesses looking to become fundamentally more
entrepreneurial, the lean enterprises that create original market value as a repeatable core competency.
The transformation to becoming a lean entrepreneurial enterprise faces unique challenges for business models; it relies on silo busting and cross-organizational
collaboration.
Start with a small lean program and the momentum will build on itself!
Lean manufacturing or lean production, often simply "lean", is a systematic method for the elimination of waste ("Muda") within a manufacturing system. Lean also takes into account waste created through overburden ("Muri") and waste created through unevenness in work loads ("Mura").
When Toyota identified the seven key areas of waste in its original lean system, these were targeted at manufacturing processes, but often these can be applied almost as easily within an office environment.
Looking at an office, overproduction could relate to too much paperwork and too many approvals, and transport could be something as simple as having the space poorly laid out.
With Value Stream mapping of the process is completed can work begin on the future state map, applying the lean principles to eliminate wasteful processes such as unnecessary approvals and paperwork.
